Good taste and the best catch in town, quite literally you will find the best anchovy in Fort Kochi. Yes, we are talking about the latest fashion boutique in town and not the little fish this time! Maria found the name ‘Anchovy’ ideal for her first dream store. Pinkerala spoke to the young entrepreneur, Maria Manakil, about her newly inaugurated store, Anchovy, in Fort Kochi.
Anchovy is solely curated by Maria herself and is a collection of everything which built curiosity to Maria’s eyes. The store contains all kind of products from various brands like Miro, clothing for women, Niana candles, Tara handmade books, Paperbox stationary items, soaps and body care products of the brand- Wild ideas. They also keep men’s shirts, hand-woven cotton Sarees.
Maria who did her degree in Fashion Design from NIFT, Chennai, worked for a while but soon took a bold step to start her own venture. “Opening a store like Anchovy is definitely a dream come true for me and will soon launch my signature design collections which is my ultimate passion” said Maria. Her family and friends have been her major support throughout the journey and Maria considers friends to be the biggest critique in her life who stands by her through thick and thin.“Friends open up a world to us when we ask for suggestions, opinions. Majority of people get to know about my shop through my friends.” Interiors of Anchovy is done by Maria’s friend, Jaya Sriram, a Chennai based architect.
When asked about the choice of name, Maria says that the name Anchovy defines her small and humble beginning of her venture which she believes will grow into a big fish someday. Like her dream, let Maria’s Anchovy swim in the big ocean, making bigger ripples. Pinkerala wishes her all the very luck!
