Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Inaugurated Agappe Diagnostic Factory at Cochin.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the In vitro diagnostics (IVD) Reagent factory of Agappe Diagnostic Limited located at Agappe Hills, Pattimattom, on December 19, 2015.
Dr Thomas Mar Athanasius Metropolitan presided over the function. Food and civil supplies minister Anoop Jacob, Kunnathnadu MLA V P Sajeendran, block panchayat president Gauri Velayudhan, district panchayat member Ayyappan Kutty, ward member K M Salim, Agappe Chairman Prof M Y Yohannan, and Joseph John also participated in the occasion.
Anoop Jacob also inaugurated the expansion project of equipment division of Agappe Diagnostics Ltd, Nellad Unit. The equipment manufacturing plant in Kerala enables Agappe Diagnostics to produce its own medical equipment.
Agappe which has Rs 100 crore turn-over has become the second largest company in India for the manufacturing of In vitro diagnostics and reagents, said Thomas John, Managing Director, Agappe.
As part of rendering the service to 50 foreign countries, a subsidiary company was started in Switzerland. As per the reports of GBI, Agappe is the largest company in the manufacturing of clinical chemistry reagent in the country and second in terms of market share.
Thomas John said that the company had already made agreements with Toshiba Medical Systems in Japan, Mindray in China, Denka Seiken, Kwyova Medex for the supply of equipment and reagents. The IVD Reagent factory of Agappe is a significant achievement in IVD sector. A plant of Agappe is functioning at Nelladu Kinfra Park for the manufacture of equipment.
The new reagent plant at Pattimattom having one lakh square feet area is equipped with most modern amenities. The completely mechanised hematology plant is having a capacity to produce twenty thousand liters per shift.
The factory is also equipped with reverse osmosis, de-ionization system and Type-II water treatment plants. In one shift two lakh reagent kits could be produced per month. The factory has the capacity to store thirty million liters of rain water.
